Beautifully written with francescz that grips you, I actually had to read this book twice. Lex and his sister, Marina, are inseparable. If you want a great story, this isn’t really it.
There’s one fact in the story that’s really sad, but I won’t say what it is. If you were a mermaid, you said, if you were a mermaid, I was the sea.
They grow into a garden so dense and thick that it starts to invade your brain where the old things you were once told are dying.
Only A Breath Apart. For such a small book, this took me a while to finish. Because I’m feeling that she rewrote this and it was so unlike her. This book was really sad, especially because they loved each other so much.

This was a quick but immersive read. Reader reviewed by Dylana This book was kind of hard to understand in the beginning, but once you keep reading, you really get it and get into it more. That was interesting and different. I had a difficult time figuring out this book, as it switches first person point-of-view between the brother and the ila without explanation.
Your whole life you can be told something is wrong and so you believe it. She does so in her usual, brilliant, artful way, weaving in franceesca quiet, grancesca backdrop of LA and all of its lost souls.
The air they share has always been light and boundless, but suddenly it’s weighted down. As far as I’m concerned, I’m fascinated because I think incest probably is the most forbidden form of relationship there is.

It was written in the same way that all of Francesca Lia Block’s books were written, that magical writing that takes you into the story. User reviews 3 reviews. Those were pearls that were his eyes’ ” a reference to Eliot’s clairvoyant, Madame Sosostris.
Its a short story with a lot of impact but switches between characters and half way through the story I realized that there were 3 characters actions I needed to account for, not just one.
The ending was predictable and way too easy for me. But if my struggle to figure out what’s going on, who’s who in her books, doesn’t ultimately lead to some sort of revelation or insight into those characters which, for me, that struggle is just a struggle and not an illuminationthen it’s kind of pointless.

Through flashbacks, it becomes clear that the siblings had developed a physical attraction and were deeply troubled waste,and their feelings for each other. But then slowly seeds are planted inside of you, one by one, by a touch or a look or a day skateboarding in a park, and they start to burst out of old hulls shells and they start to sprout.
She talks about how they blofk go to the beach, and how they met West, a surfer, like Lex. This is how you know how much Lex loves his sister. This story is about incest. My favourite thing about this novel is that even when it’s revealed that Lex was adopted, Marina still views him as her brother.
Sometimes, you feel their love at the most unexpected moments. The bulk of the story revolves around Marina’s journey to find out why her brother committed suicide, coming to terms with what existed between them, and making peace with the haunting of her heart.
